“Give us a minute to confer,” Drew said instead.
Carrie smiled hopefully as she and Megan left the room.
“Thanks a lot, Meg,” Carrie said. “I think you may have finally convinced them.”
“I hope so,” Megan replied.
They were summoned back in and sat down to await final judgment.
“If we were to let you do this?” Nancy asked. “Would it make you happy?”
Carrie nodded emphatically.
“Would you be willing and able to abide by our rules?”
She nodded again.
“If this gets done,” Drew said. “It gets done with our supervision. We won’t be standing there watching, but we won’t be too far either. And we will burst in and check up if we get even the least bit suspicious.”
