But no, mum didn’t get me out of it. Well not really. All she said was that we had to go soon, but if Peter wanted to take me out for a couple of hours in an afternoon, maybe on Saturday, that would probably be okay. “Would that be alright Alison?” she said turning to me. I could only just smile and nod pathetically.
