We sat and ate quietly. “You’re not eating as much these days James,” said dad.
“I’m just being careful not to put on weight,” I replied.
“Good for you,” said mum in support. “Too much food can be bad for you.”
Dad did suggest a walk after the food, but knowing I might meet or see Peter somewhere around the lake I excused myself and said I would stay and read a magazine. So dad and mum went off alone
