Irene, like most girls in her late teens, hated her mother. She thought she was *always* right. She tried to tell Irene what to do with her life, and Irene resented it. Just because her mother was a powerful sorceress, didn’t mean that she had to be one too! She was determined to go through life, not relying on magic like her mother did. That made you weak.
