At that point everyone wanted to hold me and play with me. They passed me around the room, sitting me in various women’s laps while they tickled my stomach and made baby-talk to entertain me. When they were finished bouncing me on their knees and playing with me, my colleague put me in the playpen and gave me a bottle of juice to drink. I moped in the playpen while her friends told her what an adorable baby she had adopted. A few minutes later I wet my diaper and I began crying in embarrassment. Pauline rushed over to the side of the playpen and took me out to lay me on my back on the floor.
