The few books that sat on his books shelf were all books she recalled from her own childhood: The Book of Fairies and Fairytales, The Schoolgirls Own Adventure Book, Heidi, Little House on the Prairie, A Little Princess… and some that Valerie certainly didn’t have when she was a girl; Princess Tales for Petticoated Boys, The Boys Book of Ballet, Skipping, Clapping & Dancing Games for Boys, and a curious contemporary retelling of the classic Prince and the Pauper titled The Princess and the Pauper, in which the young frumpy Princess Fiona swaps places with a working class boy called Norman.
