“I feel really strange saying this,” Mrs. Anderson said as she unfolded the diaper and slid it underneath Jess’ behind, “but I think I’ll actually miss changing you while you’re gone over the next two weeks, Jessie. I feel like having you back in diapers has brought us closer than we’ve been since the last time you were in diapers.” Mrs. Anderson rubbed the powder in with more tenderness than Jess was used to and it caused her to purr after a fashion. “I really hope,” Mrs. Anderson continued, “that if you decide to give diapers up after this conference, that we won’t lose this renewed closeness. I didn’t realize this until recently, but I now know I’m not ready to lose my baby girl with the idea of you going off to college and being an adult.
