On the third day, he awoke with his thumb in his mouth. Instead of removing it in embarrassment as he had the day before, he left it as it was to enjoy the soothing, secure feeling it gave him. All that morning he intermittently sucked his thumb as he layed in his crib without caring whether Krystyn saw him or not. He noticed that hunger made him need the solace of his thumb as he began instinctively sucking it while he waited for his breakfast and lunch. After dinner, Kyrstyn bathed him again, but this time she didn’t permit him to stand in the tub while she washed him down with the sprayer. From Andrew’s viewpoint, it was just as well that she didn’t.
