It was only a few days before the return to college when dad struck with another bolt of horror out of the blue. “I think you should get your hair cut for the new term young man,” he said one morning.
Hair cut! That was the very last thing my new Alison-look wanted. I was now looking quite nice as a girl with shoulder length, slightly curly hair and the thought of returning to a short boy’s haircut sent shivers down my spine.
“Dad,” I blurted out, “the fashion these days is for lads like me to have much longer hair and I am at college now, not junior school”. Wow, I hoped my quick thinking ‘bluff’ would help me get away with it.
